7 Things that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Taught us wrong about Treks

We know that love stories can start over treks, but there are practices wrongly propagated in the movie, that can be fatal. Here are the blunders that you really don’t want to commit while going on a trek.

1) We don’t go to high altitude treks like Hampta pass or Har Ki Dun without fitness preparation. Can’t book tickets last night and start trekking

For Himalayan treks, We shall be scaling altitude from 3500-5000 meters. Just to feed your imagination, Delhi altitude is 216 meters, Dehradun is 437 meters and Mount Everest is 8848 meters. Unlike regular vacation, where you have just packed the bag and leave, trekking demands a fitness regime of at least 15 days. The benefits of the trek last a lifetime.

2) We trek in raw jungles

You need to dress appropriately to sustain climb, temperature and variances. Even in summers Himalayan terrain demand 3 layers of clothing.

3) A strict no to alcohol/weed.

When thirsty, we drink water to keep the body hydrated. Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS) can be fatal.
Treks are meant to get high on nature and people. You are not on a picnic you are here to connect with nature. Moreover, AMS can be fatal and any intoxicant just increases the risk.

5)There is a ground rule set for all trekkers: No night treks, absolutely NO

You are not the only one out there at night. Remember its raw nature and it plays differently. There is much fatal danger out there at night. Staying together in a group keeps you safe.

5) Trek is not about competition. It’s about collaboration and teamwork <3

When you gain height too quickly in Himalayan terrain, you are more prone to Altitude Mountain Sickness. Slow and steady is the rule. Enjoy the nature. Communicate if your facing trouble, seek help give help.

6) You don’t pee anywhere near tents, it’s just disgusting. There are washroom tents for nature’s call.
